Much Too Kind !

Zeida-
Thanks for the accolades, but I really did and do, enjoy "my" kids. Although there are days, like today, when I think I will pull all my hair out from them!!! But yes, I did, and do, work with language and learning impaired children. In the past I've used total communication boards, sign language and other means of communication to assist them with their speech production and educational goals. I think its fun to never be stuck in the same rut. With "my" kids, the one constant is that there is never a routine day! Now, for the other side of the coin, I also have emotionally and severely emotionally disturbed kids mixed with oppositional defiant disorder and conduct disordered kids,(all in the same room) and that really puts a whole different spin on things. Add all those exceptionalities together in one room with one teacher all day long, and things are guarenteed never to be boring. Welcome to my world. Things in special ed are done very differently down here than they are up in NY - maybe not better than, but definately different than NY.

The venue for our reunion definately needs to be an easily accessible place. I know I, for one, shall be relying on cabs or public transportation, since I hate to rent a car for such a short time away. Bell Blvd. is nice, as is Austin Street, but the parking there is always horrendous. For a feeling of intimacy, at a fair price, I still return to The Sly Fox across from SJU. I have been out of NY for many years now, and I am sure that tons of new places have opened of which I am unaware, so I shall defer to present day New Yorkers to make the decisions regarding our choice of dining arrangements. Count me in, no matter where we end up.
