MASS IS WONDERFUL BUT KEEP IN MIND IT TAKES TIME FROM HANGING OUT

IN OCTOBER, MY HIGH SCHOOL HAD A REUNION AND WE HAD A MASS. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL, BUT EVERYONE HAD SO MUCH TO SAY TO EACH OTHER THAT THE MASS WAS INTERRUPTED A BIT. THE SIGN OF PEACE TOOK SO LONG SINCE EVERYONE WANTED TO GIVE THE SIGN OF PEACE TO EACH OTHER IF YOUR TIME IS LIMITED, SEE WHO WILL BE THERE ON THE SUNDAY AND MEET FOR MASS AT OLA AND PUT IN THE ATTENTION IN ORDER THAT THE MASS BE IN HONOR OF THE CLASS OF 1969, WHETHER THERE OR NOT. - JUST A SUGGESTION. - KEEP IN MIND WE HAD SEEN EACH OTHER OVER THE YEARS AND HAD OTHER REUNIONS YOU GUYS HAVE NOT GOTTEN TOGETHER IN HOW MANY YEARS

Can the New York team arrange this?

Hello OLA'ers! As we're quickly approaching our big reunion day, I thought how wonderful it would be if we could have a mass before our festivities, in thanksgiving for this great opportunity to see each other again. New Yorkers: is there a chance of arranging a Saturday afternoon mass at one of the hotel spaces? We could then continue on from there to the talking and eating part.

No 1970 Graduates yet?

Hello everyone I have not been on in awhile. I am sure I have been missed HAHAHAHA. I see all of you have been having VERY interesting conversations. In reading over some I see someone mention Caruso and Ricky (big guy from 1970). Are you referring to Robert Caruso and Ricky Jerez? Does anyone know their whereabouts? Jo where is Raquel? Please ask her to get on the blogger.

The Sexes

I agree with you Zeida. It is horrifying how men behave towards their wives especially after 4 or 5 years of marriage. When I was in D.R., I was asking some friends and acquaintances about their extended families; and as discreetly as possible asked about the number women that their fathers had children with, and it was not infrequently in double digits.

However, I think that in sports women have become much more prominent since we were young. My nephews are playing in little league that is now coed. In my sport, track and field, today the top women athletes are getting paid just as much as the men, and this includes events in which women were not even allowed to compete in the 60's such as the marathon. Come to think of it, when I was competing, neither men or women were allowed to accept money, since you would have become ineligible to compete (amateur sports you know). Now men or women breaking world records typically receive US$100,000, and smaller fees are paid for appearance, or finishing place.

Women have established a presence in basketball, but certainly not on an equal footing with men.

Strict Upbringing and softball tales

Zeida your upbringing is not unusual in the Spanish Caribbean. My wife was brought
up the same way and was only allowed to go with her Sister and other close relatives.

I think it is because the men are very aggressive towards women, and it is a cultural
necessity to be over protective. Also, in much of Spanish speaking America, at least in my days, any unmarried women who slept with men were stigmatized as "loose".

Furthermore, although many Latin men wanted to try to sleep with as many women as they could; hypocritically, they demanded a virgin bride.

On the lighter side, and since we have many offspring baseball players and aficionados on the Blogger, I thought that it would be opportune to share some old
softball stories with my fellow OLA'ers, embellished of course for the general interest of the readers, and for the benefit of Jo.

Characteristically, my softball team at OLA in which Leo and I were co-captains, aptly named the "Avengers" after the entertaining, but rather silly spy comedy show of the time, was always in a deadlocked battle for the championship with the "Raiders", captained by Paul DeCurtis and comprising a strong force of Douglas Roll, Jorge Bustamante and Jackie (a good pitcher in class of 70).

We were in this spring game in Flushing Meadow Park, near the lake in a final game that would decide the outcome of the season. It was a beautiful, clear sunny day, with a strong wind blowing towards the plate from the outfield. After 7 innings, the score was tied at 4 to 4 and the Avengers were up to bat in the top of the eighth.

Our batting order was Caruso up first, Ricky up second, and I was third, with Leo slotted fourth as power hitter for clean up. There was much tension and ill feelings
between the two teams, since the Raiders had beaten us for the championship in the Sixth and Seventh grades in close and hard fought encounters, and this, the last championship was therefore most important of all.

As Caruso came up to bat with two outs in the eighth, we all shouted at him to get a base hit. At the instructions of Paul, the Raiders outfield shifted infield and the infield tightened and verged towards third and second, since Caruso normally pulled down the line. Jackie pitched a a fast and low one that Caruso caught hard at the end of the bat, and to the surprise of the Raiders, sent a line drive sailing towards right field through a hole in the defenses. It was a single, man on first, Caruso wisely retreating after rounding first base, as the Raiders quickly trapped the ball and threw it to second base.

Next up was Ricky, also class of 70, who was one of the largest boys on our team, but always chose the smallest and lightest bat in our arsenal, that was suited more for fourth graders. We urged Ricky, who usually swung for the fence with dire consequences, to swing level and hit the ball on the ground for a base hit. After one ferocious swat at a fast low pitch that sunk like a submarine in the last foot before reaching the plate, and a cry of "STRIKE" by the umpire, we all screamed at Ricky to swing easy and just meet the ball. Jackie threw a spiraling cork screw of a curve ball that seemed to defy gravity, but Ricky chopped soflty at the ball, as if he were using a net to catch a butterfly, and the ball snapped of the bat down the third base line and into the outfield. We passed a nervous ten seconds as Rick slowly ran to first base, whilst Paul raced from shortstop, and crouched and cradled the ball in his glove as he ran, turning sideways and flinging it violently to first base. Ricky barely beat out the ball, stomped on the base and to our relief was pronounced "SAFE" by the umpire. In the meantime, Caruso had dashed to third base. Man on first and third.

As I approached the plate, the butterflies were swarming around my stomach, and my team urged me to drive the runs in. The Raiders outfield shifted back in Center, Left and Right fields, so far back that I wished we had been back in the school yard with fences. Jackie gave me this evil smile on his face, and threw a fast low ball, "SWING" and miss. Jackie knew that I hated the low balls, but on his second pitch he threw a high outside ball that he knew I preferred, and I swung with such force that my body spun completely around, with dust rising up high around the plate, at the end of which the word "STRIKE" stabbed me in my ear. Now my team was disconsolate, and losing some faith in my hitting ability, pleaded with me just to get on base.

I gritted my teeth and bent my knees facing Jackie dispassionately, swearing to myself that I would wait for my pitch. Several mean throws by Jackie sped on different sides of the plate harmlessly, but I would not swing. My teammates, nervous and losing patience started yelling "put it over the plate, Jackie". Miss Marus stood on the sidelines and just smiled. A fast pitch came right down the plate and I swung hard and level, "SMACK" the ball went sailing high to deep Center field, and as it did Douglas went running out to reach it. My team screamed "RUN" and smiled in the assurance that nobody could reach that ball. As I rounded first base, I glanced at the ball descending from high up in the air, and it appeared almost as if the wind was suspending it motionless in the sky, whilst Douglas desperately ran with all his might. Just as the ball was dropping to the ground, Douglas with his back still towards the infield as he ran, leapt up high, lifted his glove and snatched the ballas if swatting a fly from the air, and collapsed on the ground after doing so. He rose up from the ground, and shook his balled glove defiantly in the air. I glanced incredulously in his direction, as I had never seen Douglas make such a miraculous catch. My team members lowered their heads in disgust, and as I glanced at Miss Marus her head shook from side to side, as she remarked, "what a great catch"

After our third out, the Raiders scored a run in the eighth and won the championship by one run for the third year in a row.

Thanks, Douglas,

John

good morning

I guess the reason why my parents were not total prison guards was my dad getting sick when I was nine so there was just a little on the plate. But I can remember my first date, my dad was disappointed that he and I guess my mom were not chaperoning. Mom remind him that they were never chaperoned and this was a few years later. Poor father he was really out numbered, were they older or younger than you. I think every dad thinks every boy in the world would want us to sin, is that because of their own minds of what they were hoping as teenagers.... lol. In this day and age that may be a good thing not letting children venture out alone until I was 16, but its not realistic unforenately. I still have my MIA bracelet and wear it when i wear silver - my was in silver the name is almost wore off. Is that why we had good grades in school. I am glad you were smart enough to figure it out..... If I do not hear from you guys have a good weekend - Saturday I will be working to two, come home, change and go to my mini h.s. reunion for the class of 71 at abbraimento's - rego park remember that place - the owners are either the parent or uncle and aunt of a student that graduated a year or two before me from saha......

I AGREE WITH ZEIDA

NO - YOU ARE NOT... DITTO TO WHAT ZEIDA STATED - I AM THE ONE WHO IS SHY AND TIMID - NO PROBLEM ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP - WELL I WOULD HAVE RETURNED IT BUT ITS NOT MY FAULT THAT THEY RAISED THE PRICES AND CHANGED THE SEATING - AT LEAST I DID NOT BRING MY TOOL BELT TO TAKE THE TICKET CONES LIKE SOME PEOPLE DID AND PROCEEDED TO TAKE EITHER THE D OR NUMBER 4 TRAINS HOME...... THAT WAS A SIGHT.... YES I AM LUCKY THAT TED DID NOT ARREST ME BUT THE TWO COPS BY MS. GERHIG AND RUTH'S SEATS WERE READY...

BTW ZEIDA YOU MENTIONED GOING TO THE FIRE HOUSE BY GRAND AVENUE AND YOU WORK WITH SPECIAL ED KIDS - QUESTION - SINCE THE FIREHOUSE ON GRAND AVENUE IS IN THE OLD (THAT'S HOW I REMEMBER THE DISTRICTS) DISTRICT 24. - MY NEIGHBOR LIZ CORRIGAN WAS A SCHOOL NURSE FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS AT A DISTRICT 24 SCHOOL FOR SPECIAL ED KIDS - DID YOU KNOW HER....... JUST WONDERING

hi

Camelia! I am so!!!!!
and by the way thanks for all the information you provided to help us in our search for john!!!!!
speaking of shy people, i cant believe how you looted that stadium. youre lucky ted wasnt there to arrest you! that would have been another amazing coincidence in your life....
and thanks maritina for the inspiration....
unfortunately, however, john martini and i both came to the same conclusion about george hernandez. he did not graduate from regis and they have no record of him....probably emigrated to miami like the rest of his countrymen. too bad he has such a common name!!!!
by the way.....does anyone remember if john ryan's birthday was nov. 21????
josephine

JOSEPHINE SHY AND TIMID

I THINK NOT.... SINCE WHEN......

john ryan

zeida,
i called monsignor maclancey high school and they looked up their alumni records and found a "john ryan" who is presently living in missouri.
if you call the number, you will hear his voice and i swear it has to be OUR "john Ryan" 35 years later. It is unreal!!!!. unfortunately i just couldn't leave a message...you know....too shy and timid.....(i got john martini to call since he is anything but shy!)
if anyone would like to volunteer, please notify me and i will gladly give them the number.
i nominate doug roll! doug, do you accept?????
josephine

John Ryan, John Ryan where are you?

Yeh, I am sure that the deep recorded voice on the machine is John Ryan's voice

Just in case he has a mental block for my name. I left another message (third) and said that we are having an OLA reunion
and that Miss Marus is going to umpire a softball game and we have that started choosing teams and Douglas Roll and Paul DeCurtis have chosen
John Ryan to be on their team.

If this anecdote does not ring a bell, then I'll change my name back to John Carreras, which is the name that I left on my message, of course.

John Ryan is a legend, and was such a multi-talented student that whether his current endeavors are related to athletic sports, business, politics or scientific pursuits, I have no doubt that he has excelled in his chosen profession and we would be dignified by including him in our illustrious cast attending the OLA Reunion.

Have a good time in Florida?

Douglas, I hope you and your family enjoyed Florida while you were here. I do believe you had some of our awful weather, but rest assured, now that you are back in NY (I think) we are back to temperatures in the mid 80's daily. Sorry!!! We DO have freak weather here occasionally, and unfortunately for you, your trip coincided with some of the freakiest in a while. Sorry we didn't connect while you were here, but I am looking forward to May 15th.
Suzette

Zeida

Just want you to know that I enjoy reading your posts and also Camelia's about baseball. Right now baseball dominates our family, tho it has since my son was 5. When we lived in Florida we were there for the inception of the Marlins and I have been a die-hard fan ever since. We went to the stadium celebration when they won the first World Series. Unfortunately, my son is a die-hard Atlanta Braves fan, so he was not too happy and we have a friendly rivalry going. One thing we do have in common tho is that we are not too fond of the Yankees(and that is putting it mildly)!! We lean more towards the National league, but since the Mets are in our division we don't like them a whole lot either. It is nice to see women who enjoy the game, not alot do unless their sons play. I wish your son alot of luck. My son has been very fortunate, he has lettered in baseball since he was a freshman and will be going to VMI (Virginia Military Institute) on a baseball scholarship. We have forgone alot of vacations and weekends for his passion, but it has all been worth it. I am going to let my son read yours and Camelia's posts about your great baseball experiences with your husbands, I know he will be impressed!!
Looking forward to May 15th.
Barbara

SO IT WAS THE THRILL OF STAYING OUT LATE NOT LOVE THAT GOT YOU HITCHED DOES HUBBY KNOW THAT. AGREE RE: BLOGS....

BUT HUBBY DOES NOT CARRY AN UZI

YES I DO TOO AND I HAVE THE METS ALBUM BOY THEY COULD NOT SING..... I WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL IN BROOKLYN SO WE WOULD STAY IN THE LIBRARY WATCHING THE GAMES UNTIL IT WAS OVER AND THEN WENT HOME SINCE WE DID NOT WANT TO MISS ANYTHIN ESPECIALLY ROSEMARY AND SUSAN RUNNING ON THE FIELD LOL. HUBBY IS AN ELEC. TECH FOR THE POST OFFICE IN GOOD OLD ALTHANX STATION - MORGAN STATION. MY DAUGHTER WHEN SHE WAS IN GRADE SCHOOL HAD TO TELL ABOUT A PARENT'S OCCUPATION AND I GUESS BEING IN THE FIN. AREA WAS BORING - SHE STATED BY SAYING WHAT DAD DID AND FINISHED BY SAYING MY DADDY HAS YET TO GO POSTAL AND DOES NOT CARRY AN UZI - LUCKY THE TEACHER AND THE PRINCIPAL HAD A SENSE OF HUMOR (THE SCHOOL HAD VISITORS AND THEY AND THE PRINICPAL HAPPENED TO BE IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME...LOL. THIS IS WHEN BASEBALL GAMES WERE PLAYED THE WAY THEY SHOULD IN THE AFTERNOON (EXCUSE THE EDITORIAL COMMENTS)... GOOD FOR YOU - FIRM BELIEVER YOU STAY WITH YOUR TEAM THROUGH THICK AND THIN. SOUNDS GOOD TO ME BUT TED CANNOT BE THAT OLD.... THAT HE WOULD REMEMBER THOSE DAYS LOL.... AND WHERE IS YOU BUDDY JOSEPHINE......

good afternoon

I guess you were really in the St. Paul the Apostle Parish with no school and St. Barts was filled to capacity. I always liked the barracks church that were there for years until a real church was build. I had three aunts who lived at Rego Park Gardens -the buildings behind the Queens Center. I remember and ate at Pizza Nosh many times. I agree with the hubby and I did not know too many cops that liked dinkins. My mom was especially upset when he paid the funneral expenses for some dominician drug dealer in washington heights. It upset her a lot more than normal since she was born there. Did not really care for Liz but she was good at her job but should have stayed where she was rather than going for higher office. Lucky - He was also in the DUGOUT with the Mets when they won the world series. i bet he is still young. which world series. (it could not be 69, was in 86.) I was a die hard national league met fan until they went on strike in 94 - have not been to a game since. you being a yankees fan would like the items from the last game (before you were born right) in yankee stadium before it was renovated in 74 i believe. they lost to detroit 10-6 - i have a half a seat, signs from the concessions stands, had some turb that died, and almost go the seats reserved for ms. l. gehrig and b. ruth - a cop was not very happy that i was trying to take it. my brother almost got 2nd base, but a truck driver person knocked him out of the way and took it. (bum) You must re- converted - national league all the way.. Tino Martinez is my moms; favorite too.. those were the days of the 1.50 or 3 bleacher seats. i can remember walking from 99 and 64 avenue with my brother to shea to save the train fare and have a little extra spending money when we got to the game. remember helmet and bat days......... i have a few of them.... see you

good morning

As the old saying goes, it was in all the papers. At the time I had a few people that I babysat for (the women were all divorced mothers who did not work, hubbys were paying the rent for the ex-wives and kids) and prayed that none had been arrested. Luckily they either lived in my building or across the street, they were usually out to 5- 8 in the am and I started babysitting around 8 pm. I did make good money though. Did you live in Sheldon Gardens or whatever it was called - if that that is where the Freed Family lived. My brother was very good friends with Billy Freed. Yes Alice Crimmins, was a real sad story. Do you know anyone who went to Christ the King. Yes I remember - Lefrak had to open up the buildings for rent control, which he didn't want to do. The would have stayed as show case buildings. You are a saint for working with special Ed.children. Is Ted a Detective person... We have a very dear friend who taught at the academy for many years - now he is near queensboro community college trying to clean up that station after helping to clean up some place in jamaica ( i think that is the correct term. Mr. Dinkins I did not care for at all for many reasons, the most basic was the fact that he did not show up nor sent anyone for the renaming of ps 18 playground after officer gunn - the family was lucky that date, the ballsfields were having opening day, padavan (who i have little liking for also but respect) saw that no one showed up cut his speech went over and did the honors. what a slap in the face for the family by the mayor and other persons including mr. brown the traveling commissioner. No problem lucky i still have a good memory and when i saw the number i could not beleive it. Our famly had that phone number from 1959 as TW -62577 and then 896-2577 until we moved from the area. It is a small world. Take care

WHILE BEING EXAMINED THIS IDOIT INTERN/RESIDENT PERSON - NO OFFENSE TO DOCS, THERE ARE PLENTY IN MY FAMILY - ASKED WHO THE DR. IS - I HAVE A THERMOMETER IN MY MOUTH AND POINT TO MY MOUTH- HE STARTS WRITING - DR. ZIPPRICH - SO IN THE SPAN OF AN AFTERNOON I GOT MY MEDICAL DEGREE. HE COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHY I GOT A LITTLE PISSED AND WHY I WAS HAVING A C-SECTION - BUT MY DR. WAS RIGHT - WE WERE IN FETAL DISTRESS, MY BLOOD AND SUGAR LEVELS WERE GOING UP. THAT YEAR EASTER WAS LATE, SO I CAME HOME ON EASTER SUNDAY. GENE, JOEY AND I.

ANDREA - WAS MY ANNIVERSARY BABY - WE MARRIED 8/9/80 AT OLA BY FATHER EDWARD AND SHE WAS BORN 8/11/88. (DO YOU NOTICE THAT MY CHILDREN'S BIRTHDAYS CAN BE DIVIDED MS. MARCUS WOULD BE PROUD 8X11 = 88 4 GOES INTO 16 AND 80). AND THEY KEPT CALLING ME BY THE WRONG NAME AND I CORRECTED THEM -LUCKY THEY DID NOT PUT ME OUT OF THE O.R. AND CAHNGE OUR PLACES......... BOY WAS IT HOT IN AUGUST OF 1988. TO MAKE A LONG STORY LONGER AT BOOTH THAT SUMMER THE HOTTER THE DAY THE MORE UNEXPECTED DELIVERIES AND THE METS WOULD WON THAT NIGHT - SO I GUESS IF THE ENTIRE SUMMER HAD BEEN REALLY BAD THEY WOULD HAVE HAD A PERFECT SUMMER RECORD

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND

Camelia has the right idea next on the Agenda an OLA reunion for the class of 67', 68', 69' and 70'

Camelia,
As my brother John has confirmed, we certainly know where to reach Joseph Carreras, who lives in Cleveland, has three boys in University and has a summer home in Pine Island in the outerbanks, N.C. Zarrillo should not be too difficult to find, and I can confirm that Paul Decurtis is coming, so I'm sure that he knows the whereabouts of Peter, who is a retired lawyer. If you give me your e mail address, I will pass it on to him.(vonreissig@cs.com).

For the Class of 1969, we have 22 confirmed attendees, which includes 5 spouses I believe, thus 17 OLAr's. Three more classmates are probables, and I have just located another classmate(another mystery guest perhaps?). I spoke to Bob Falcone the other day, and he is as hilarious as ever, he will be playing a longshoreman on "Thirdwatch" on channel 4 at 10PM on May 7. Let's all try and watch it and see if we can recognize him. When I spoke to him on my cell phone I thought he had said "Birdwatch", he now has a gritty voice and a heavy N.Y. accent, so I told my wife that Bob Falcone would be on a cop show called Birdwatch on May 7, she looked at me rather puzzled and told me that she had never heard of it. Today, I received an e-mail from Bob saying that the show was "Thirdwatch", not Birdwatch and that talking to me on the phone was like talking to an 80 year old man. Well, I never... Zeida, you should tell your sister Ivy to start gathering some of her classmates, I remember Cathy Pierce, Mary, Joan Wilson, Naomi and others. You notice I always remember the girls, I have a funny memory that way. Now where shall we start.
Leo

Memories, memories

I remember I used to play basketball with Chris Chang in the YMCA, and sometimes
he would play tackle football in the coop with us. He had a younger sister who was one year behind OLA class of 69. Russell Maffetone I also remember as a real smart, but nerdy kid who got an academic scholarship. Camelia, Joseph Carreras who was in your class was my older brother. Frank Zarrillo also played football and softball with us, and visited us when we were living in Miami. As I recall, he was a good baseball player as well, as he made the Molloy team that was one of the best in the CHSAA.

Leo and I did not make the baseball team in high school, but ended up by default in the track and field team where we became the stars of our school, and broke quite a few school, meet and City records. It did not last long, since my parents moved to Florida in our Junior year, and we dropped running.

Carol, I remember a surprise party for you, but you will have to give me a hint
as to which year you are referring to, since as I recall, we celebrated several of your birthdays.

Carol, I remember that Tom Kearns once told me how beautiful you were, and that you reminded him of Goldie Hawn, but that you would not give him the time of day.

KIDS - WE LOVE THEM OF COURSE AND USUALLY GET ONE LIKE US.....

My son has finals the week of May 17th. I believe that the last day of finals is May 19. At this point he thinks he may have at least two finals that Monday and has a possiblity of 4. Actually my son reminds me that if we are good to them, he will not put me in the nursing home seen on TV. So mansion, I do not think so. "The pain of giving birth, ALONE,deserves a hefty prize." - I agree. My birth story is a little longer and goes better with a drink made by me - but Grapefruit Juice has a large part of it..... - labor and then c-section twice.... I do not do anything the easy way... what can I tell you.... "I gave birth to him CAVEMAN style and I remind him constantly. - Good for you - Well there are siblings so we will see.

Your relatives in Bellerose Village - do they go to St. Greg's church

good morning

Other member of class of 67 - James Errigo, Maria Muniz, Dorothy Towney - stepdad was the custodial at the church, Adrian Wills - brother - Philip, Hortinsia Nuviolo, Olga Sosa, Russell Maffetton, Clifford Wilde - brother Philip I believe, Doreen Krecanko and Martuerito DiStefano - went to see the first Monkees concert, Christopher Chang - Sister Joseph always said he would be the first Chinese American President - Maria Lopez, Rosa Alvarez, Rolando Silva, Gloria DiPietro, Edward Banacaisi, Ximena Cuvso, Alicia espin, Joseph Curiras, Maria Casuo, Maureen Burns, Jorge Melendez, William Carney, Stephen Pagliari nicknamed by the class - mosquito why do not know.

Zeida - my son wants to take over the world creativity or work for wizard of the coasts - since your son wants to build a super engine they can work together lol I guess your son has spring and summer together for two weeks as my son states

Your cousin lives on the Nassau end of Bellerose, I know where Ontario is - One of the very active families in St. Gregory lives near there - The Crimmins -
Speak to you later If anyone knows or keeps in touch with any one from class of 1967 pass my info or let me know

Rain

Is everyone on the east coast having rain? Perhaps by Friday we may see the Sun again. I also used to shop with Sonja at the Army & Navy store. There was also a Pizzaia on the drive and a Flafell restaurant there too! I remember one day in May she made me go to about every store on 63rd Drive until she said we could go home and when we got to my house there was a large group of classmates there shouting Happy Birthday. I was so surprised and it was my favorite birthday ever. Does anyone remember that event? I also remember the Pope driving down Queens Blvd on a very windy day. headed towards Manhattan.
Have a great day!
Carol

Thank you Josephine

I guess I saw myself more as Linus from Charlie Brown, a shy, soft spoken and insecure little boy, and aspired to be more like Humphrey Bogart, whom I thought
was Rick in Casablanca.

I do not think that either you or Zeida would look short in a long dress, if you wore spiked heels. I dig the low cut back that is popular with the stars. I will withdraw my request for a long black dress with a slit to the hip bone, if either of you wear a low cut back.

I do not remember Mr. Wolonick with the green suit. My parents first new car was a Ford Falcon that I remember they got into a horrible accident in (the days of no seat belts or air bags).

Jo, you are right about the woman supporting the man, I remember my mother always did all the driving, since my Father was too "nervous" to drive. He would complain all of the time when she made a maneuver, or would grab the windshield in fear with his hands, if she had to hit the breaks in an emergency brake, punctuated with a scream if we skidded, or if the tires squealed.

John

good afternoon

No Bellerose since 1985. I have a co-worker across the street from St. Marys hospital. I know the area well. My son's friend went to that type of college in ohio near cleveland. Where is Morrisville. My cousin's husband taught ind. art in the city hs until he retired. He went to ccny. When he was teaching the auto stuff - family members would give him their cars so the kids could work on it and part of the grade was that the repairs would last to June.lol. Sounds like a great program. Your daughter is genius of course she went to my alma mater same plans but no money when I went. Which Middle School. I think you had my son - I love sports and my kids were never really interested. My son loves its too. I had a co-worker that went to STONY-Oneonta Toni Macek now McCarthy. Agree about the "RITE OF PASSAGE". by giving them the fundamentals of the possible consequences involving their actions and choices, eventually they internalize it and will ultimately do the right things".

HELLO

I know the area well. My ex-brother in law lived on 43 Avenue and 194 Street and my cousin lived on Bayside Avenue and 153 Street. I porbably passed your home a million times. The old lady had a cute house prior to Macys. Yes the arcade and the stale gum after getting a million tickets were great lol. Joseph went to PS 133, MS 172 and then Molloy - the school that I could not go to since it was not co-ed (same with Power Memorial - where my brother went). He is now a sophomore at SUNY Onoenta - or Stonyononeta as it was called when I was young and now. Distrcit 26 all the way. My daughter went to the same schools as Joey but is a sophmore at St. Marys' Manhasset. Yes and so was the NOVA.

HELLO AGAIN

yes - The little boats rowing around were fun - I liked the mini roller coaster and the big chairs that you can make go around and around. White Castle is still there with the belly bombers as we called them. Remember when the house next to Macy's and Citibank in the round and the old lady would not sell. She was a little greedy and did not realize that the developers had two set of plans one with her and one without - at that time they offered 250K and her family convinced her to hold out. Big Mistake..... Where in Bayside - You must bump into my kids they are always at Roosevelt Fields and that is where my son picks up and is dropped off on his way to school. Ms. Marus - Plymouth Valient in teal and a chevy nova mid 1960's well at least until 1967.

Good Morning

It unforenately about Queens Blvd. nickname, but it was always a Blvd. of Death - I think its just now people are more aware and more willing to speak out. And yes the sign of the cross had to be made as the Pope passed us or we would be doomed. I also had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Kennedy but it was at a funeral mass at St. Pats. The Army-Navy Store is no longer there and yeah it was cool to buy there. I still go to the dentist in that area and unless you go back there you cannot imagine the changes. Do you remember when Alexanders, (and we still call it Alexanders not Sears, which really confusions my kids) was half the size with the little amusement park in the back. And do you remember Fairy Land where the Queens Center is now. That has been moved or a similar amusement park to Flatbush Avenue about a two miles from the Belt Parkway. I know I am old, but Candid Camera once did a skit at Alexander's when it first open. A table filled with pocketbooks for a $1.00 with tax - $1.03 - In the pocketbook there was a $1.00. The idea was to see who would a - keep the dollar - b- use the dollar to buy the bag or c- who would return it. - Mrs. Routhier returned the dollar.
I would also take the bus on 63rd drive with my friends including the Meany sisters to Rockaway beach,116th street and then either walk to 125 Street or take the bus to Riss Park. Oh those were the days. And I agree - "Too bad life became so complicated. The phrase,"Youth is wasted on the young".

Now does anyone remember and I will not use obvious events:

1. Who threw Raymond Acevedo through the heavy doors of the auditorium?
2. Ms. Marcus's car (at least one of them - I remember two)
3. The haunt house in Rego Park/Forest Hills - Where was it located and what is there now.
4. Who took classes to the World's Fair on Wednesday afternoon?
5. What was located on 108 Street/East Side of LIE Service Road - prior to the Aparment buildings - Mr. Cumno made his made on that probject.

Paul DeCurtis moved away from Bellerose a few years ago thus his family is no longer neighbors of mine. I believe he is near or in Briarcliff Manor. - I know he taught there. His three kids cuties. If Paul comes back to Bellerose, he may not recognize his home.

Last night did not have a chance to check graudation picture - hopefully will have time this evening to check the names given day before yesterday.

Josephine - Did you do your college visits - When is the prom - and finally when Joey visited James, Margaret was not visiting Beth Hanely - I really thought I may see you there

As Always

thanks zeida for letting me know. my closet is filled with long skirts - perhaps thats why i always look so short!!!!!
josephine

hi

hahaha john, you are crazy!!!!but i didn't mean Linus from Charlie Brown - I meant Humphrey Bogarts character in Sabrina....remember?......if not, you must watch it....he is so you! and no, i can't wear a black long dress....i think that zeida is wearing one - isnt she going as Morticia?????
and ivy, from what i hear of sister bertrand i regret that our class missed having her - it would have been fun to see how she handled leo and john....i think they would have met their match!!!!
oh, and raquel wants to know if you remember Mr. Wolonik's green suit? hopefully, yes, cause she said he wore it every single day.
camelia, aren't you paul decurtisis neighbor?
well, ciao everyone,
josephine

zeida - good morning

I will have to look at my album but I do not think so. The names do sound familiar though. Off the top of my head some graduates from 1967 (those of us who started in first grade started when the school opened and excuse my spelling) John Murray (who lived in the apartment above our family), Edward Murtgarth, Charles Vallone, Peter De Curtis, Andree Routhier, Alexander Kostro, Susan Troy, Ellen Triboro, Philip S., Thomas and Catherine P., Stephen L., Robert Grace, Anita C., Pura Rojas, Barbara - she had bright red hair, Sylvia C., Warren Thom, James E., ? Casablanco, Debra La Motta, Jerry J., Donna Spina, Frank Zarrillo. There were probably 15 -20 more. Cathy and Thomas were cousins, Susan and Ellen were cousins, Warren Thom stated that an uncle was on P.T. 109 - There was a Thom on board. Casablanco became a catholic while in school, and I think was one of the few students who did not fall asleep when Father Edgar said mass - he baptized her.

Does anyone remember being on Queens Blvd. when the Pope rode by

Game shows

I remember watching the game shows on Wednesdays, but not Biography.
For 60 minutes is it not Mike Wallace?

I have am authentic gorilla costume that I used in a Halloween Party, and I received the award for best impersonation, but I have since lost a lot of weight.
I watched "2001 A Space Odyssey" (that I remember was Douglas' favorite film)
and "Gorillas in the Mist". I can try getting on your shoulder, but my agility is not what it used to be. I was always associated with Linus in Charlie Brown, since I was a thumb sucker as a child, and I related to his insecurity.

Nonetheless, I think that Jo will look good in a long black dress and spiked heels. I do not have anything to wear, since I have been so busy decorating
our new house, I have had little left over to decorate my body. I assume that Suzette and Carol will CURL their hair just like they did for graduation. I remember that I hardly recognized Carol with so many curls, and thought that she might be wearing a wig. I do not recall if Suzette was happy with the Shirley Temple look, but remember that Carol was definitely not pleased.

I am also going to bring my bell to our reunion, so that like Sister Joseph I can ring it to announce the end of recreation (our bar session). Will anyone trade one of my pate and mayo sandwiches for a ham and cheese?

John

Hey Josephine

Who told you about the turkey? Yes i have to say that my mother drew a BEAUTIFUL turkey for me for some odd reason and I brought it to school and tried to hand it in as my work. I still feel guilty about it. Anyway Sr. Bertrand of course knew I did not draw it and cruelly asked me to draw one on the board I freaked out. I have erased from my memory how I got out of it. It was very dramatic. Remember how when the bell rang in the yard we all had to freeze in place? I remember the pretzel sales. Adria Valezquez was always the on that sold them in our room. I remember too how excited we would get when the TV got rolled into our room. Biography I think was the only show we ever watched. I can't remember at the moment the name of the narrator but he is still on 60 Minutes. Even now when I hear his voice it takes me back to OLA. You guys may have left but does anyone remember Mr. Wolonick (?). He was a young teacher that came to teach us I believe in the 7th grade. Anyway there are some of my memories have to think some more. Talk to all of you later.

Ivy

hi again Ivy!

so whats this i hear about a picture of a turkey your mother drew for you and which got you into much trouble?????
please, please, tell us about it!!!!!!!
josephine

happy Monday

hey carol, suzette: thanks for your good wishes and hope your Easter was also great!

hey ivy! sooo glad to hear from you after all these years. i see that you and raquel remember so much that your sister and i have forgotten....raquel is doing great and was, for the longest time an avid reader of the blogger...but now that things are slowing down i hope that she too will share a few memories with us (after all, us older ola'ers are running out of memories (except for camelia whose memory amazes me!) and not everyone is imaginative enough to start "making up" stories) well i wont call them lies cause they are sooooo funny and entertaining), and i wont mention any names). raquel still keeps in touch with adria and of course, remy, who throughout our lives has been like a brother to us...although that must surprise you since our friendship started in high school. i'll let raquel fill you in on the past 35 years but i'll tell you that she did NOT marry a cuban, either. He is a CHILENO and just like a brother to me and i have 3 lovely wonderful nieces!!!! so please, ivy - what else do you remember and be honest: what did you little sisters think of Glenn Kormannnn?

and to my dashing leading man: I would love to be your Ilse, Rick....but i have nothing to wear....when i look in my closet all i see is black with a few touches of khaki and i am afraid that i will have to go as jane goodall - but i do have the cutest little chimp that on top of my shoulder, maybe as part of a shawl, will make the outfit look just smashing! i guess you could always come as a chimp (as long as zeida does not show up as a huntress )which i fear she will) )...but i still think you would make the greatest Linus.
well, enough boberia from me,
Josephine
p.s. does anyone remember scott lapinsky or did i make him up?

Hey Josephine

I am so glad to be on the blogger. I hope Raquel gets on it also. It is so nice that you and Zeida have gotten together like this. I would love to hear from Raquel. I remember Jeffrey Routhier he was left back and ended up in our class. Of course I remember Remy Rohas(?). How did you keep in touch with him? Did Raquel keep in touch with anyone from our class? I hate to say I did not. I did see Robert Caruso (remember him ?) once or twice in my neighborhood once I was in HS. How about Ricky Jerez and Renato Blain? I did once run in to someone while I was living in Glen Rock New Jersey who knew Renato. I can't remember her first name but her maiden name was Silva. How many kids does Raquel have? How are your parents doing? I always remember how sweet your Dad always was to me. How is your cousin Rosie? Now, she was not very nice to me if I remember correctly. I can't remember why. Is Raquel's husband Cuban? I know yours isn't and neither is mine. I wonder if any of us Cuban OLAers married Cubans? I never really thought about how many Cubans were at OLA. Do you remember Sister Bertrand? She was our 3rd grade teacher and she was soooooooooooo terribly mean. I can still remember clearly how she yelled at me because I had not numbered all the pages in my composition notebook. Do you remember those fountain pens we had to use? I always remember how our fingers would get smeared by the ink? So many things are coming back to me now. Anyway I am glad to speak to all of you and please get Raquel to get on the blogger. Take care.

Ivy

Glen Korman where art thou

I telephoned all of the Kormans that I pulled up in Texas, and there were some STRANGE responses and accents let me tell you. Leo, on his part contacted most
of the listings in the entire US of A.

Thank you Remy for remembering Leo and I. we were certainly near the head of our class for getting into trouble. Jo I am relieved that you have voted in favor of Bogart.
"The problems of two people don't amount to a pile of beans in this world" Will you be my Ingrid Bergman?

If I had to look like Viggo, the plastic surgeons would become rich, and I would probably end up wearing a prosthetic nose like Michael.

Now where did I put that hat and raincoat?

John

josephine you did not visit yet

Jeffrey Routhier????? (hehhehe) - the last time i saw a routhier was gordon and his wife before they moved to parrisapay, nj and visited bellerose - i also sent gordon a letter asking him to tell jeffrey to get in touch with you guys. i guess he did not. andrea his older sister and i were friends from 1st grade infact we met the first day of first grade. she went to holy cross hs in the city and i went to st. angela hall in brooklyn and over the years loss touch. when she completed her education, she got married and move to reader's digest land in new york. her oldest brother joe lives in the house the grew up in rego park. i was told that jeffrey was a writer and had gone to school in the ks/neb area.

Raquel was in town and i hope you said hi from us. speak to you later

Happy Easter!

Thanks Camelia! Happy Easter to you too and to all the OLA'ers out there. But do you have any news about Jeffrey Routhier????? (hehhehe)
Ivy, we were just talking about you the other night ...Raquel was in town and we met in the city for dinner. there was another OLA'er among us whom i am sure you will remember - Remy (who, by the way, could not remember anyone from our class except for Leo and John - hardly surprising, if you ask me!) well, anyway, I have the greatest picture of you and raquel waltzing at one of our parties....i will make you a copy along with some other pictures of Gigi which are in high demand.
and Viggo! I totally disagree that you should show up as Viggo...I'll admit that my SECOND impression of you ( when I was looking at your left side) was : OMG John looks just like Humphrey Bogart. I vote for the tux and bow tie and that you come as Linus....and would not Glen make a perfect David?????(perhaps Tom could be his understudy) (but who will be that Sabrina secretly watching you from the tree top???)
and Where is Zeida? is she hunting for that perfect rug??? she sure has come a long way since hunting for grasshoppers!!!!!!
well, i better behave - her lenten resolution is up after sunday!!!!! (can't wait!!!)
well, ciao to all!
Josephine

Re: Hong Kong, Macau and Bangkok

John,

United flies non-stop to Tokyo, a city well worth stopping at for a few days on the way down to Hong Kong. Agreed, we'll have our second ultimate reunion in Asia. On Izawa-san, I sent off a note to a friend in Tokyo and asked for a quick search. I'll be interested to see how many Izawa they come back with. I wish we knew what city in Japan he may be iving in.

I can't remember Hiroshi using a counting device in Math class. Certainly it would have been a Japanese version of the Abacus for sure.
If he was emotional in class, he would have been no different than the sales folks that worked for me in Tokyo. Running a group that competed with each other often resulted people loosing face and coming into the office in tears.

I understand that Tokyo is in the peak of cherry blossoms right now, some ten days early this year because of an unseasonably warm February. It's a great time to be in Japan, picnicking under the cherry trees, hoping for just one cherry blossom to fall in your sake glass and the resulting year of good fortune.

-Tom

P.S. On Bangkok, did you see the movie "The Beach"?

Bowling

I remember that bowling party. I think Hiroshi's father was way ahead of his time as that type of Birthday party is the standard now. have we ever tried to locate Hiroshi?

Doug

HAPPY AND BLESSED EASTER

TO ALL OLA'S GRADS AND VERY HAPPY AND BLESSED EASTER AND IF ANYONE CHANGED RELIGIONS - HAPPY AND BLESSED PASSOVER

I HOPE THAT THE SITE DOES CONTINUE TO ATTRACT OTHER GRADS FROM OTHER YEARS

HAS ANYONE COME UPON MARYANN OR ELIZABETH MEANY - LAST I HEARD THEY HAD MOVED TO PA. WHERE THEY ORIGINALLY CAME FROM. THEY HAD A YOUNGER BROTHER KEVIN - SAME NAME AS THE COMEDIAN - ALWAYS WONDERED IF IT WAS AND THE SAME.

Hong Kong, Macau and Bangkok

Tom,

I am willing to go to the Far East for the ultimate OLA reunion, since I have never been there for either business or vacation. At the same time, we can take a day flight to Tokyo in order to search for Hiroshi Izawa.

Remember that he always responded with "Wa abaut it" to everything that you said to him, and that he was the first one to finish his math exams by using an abacus. He would move the little balls across this instrument faster than the bat of an eye and scribble down answers on the test page almost as swiftly. I remember sitting next to him and trying to beat him, since I considered myself fairly swift in math, but he would realize that I was watching him, and step on the accelerator. Miss Marus would grin in approval when he handed his exam in many minutes before anyone in the class, and as I recall, usually error free. In the few instances that I remember that his mathematical calculations were corrected, Hiroshi would break out in tears, but absolutely silently, so that, unless you looked at his face, you had no idea that he was crying.

What a baby, I would think, but I wish that I could do math as quickly as he did. Could I ever master the use of the abacus, I wondered, not in this lifetime?

I think that this has already been mentioned, but I always remember the time that Hiroshi invited us to his birthday party, or was it his going away party, and his Dad took us bowling paid all of our fees, shoes and food. It must have been half of our class attending, and we had a great time. What a generous Father I thought at the time, it must be a Japanese thing I thought. In contrast, my parents did not even want to pay for Leo and I to see The Sound of Music with our class, due to the expense. Eventually, after much badgering, in the following year we were able to see it, but with the year behind us.

Hong Kong and Macau are great places. Yes you do gain further appreciation for how great we have it at home and there is a real excitement in living there. Visitors always benefit from a tour guide familiar with the territory and I'm sorry we did not connect before your husband visited. I'll check if your phone number is listed on the spreadsheet and will give you a call...Curious about the experience your husband had. Hong Kong is like no other place, sort of like New York on steroids in a way. Maybe we can get a group organized to go there.

Air travel can be a hastle as can ships

I agree with Zeida that air travel and sea can be a hastle. My wife is the one who gets sea sick, but I only realized this after our honeymoon in Hawaii
where in my ignorance I had scheduled water activites practically every day for two weeks. Deep sea diving for sea trutles, rafting to a reef for tropical fish snorkeling, water canoeing downg a river in Maui and a pirate ship around an island etc. After she got sick several times I questioned whether she was prone to sea sickness, but she herself had only realized her own sensitivity during her first exposure to the open sea.

Since then we have vacationed in the following:

Antigua
Argentina
Bahamas
Dominican Republic
Mexico
Uruguay
Italy
France
Spain
U.K.
Switzerland

We also enjoyed immensely Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Tetons and Cody Wyomimng one year and and the Grand Canyon and Sedona Arizona another. The East Coast we have done from Quebec City to the Florida Keys.
We have skiid the popular New England and Upstate New York mountains, but are getting less flexible over the years. We spend at least one week in the summer in a summer house on the shores of the outer banks, N.C.

Wished I knew...

Tom,

Just read your post on the blogger and I wished I'd of known you used to live in Hong Kong. My husband went to Hong Kong just last month on business and I would have loved to get some insight from you on things to do. It was for business, but he did have some down time and did go to Macaii(is that right spelling??) and a few other places. He did say it was quite an experience. I envy you to be able to experience living in another culture for awhile. I would imagine it makes you appreciate home just a bit.
Looking forward to May 15th.

Barbara

Ivy, great to hear from you!

Yes it has been a long time. I certainly remember you and we have been almost neighbors for some years now. I live just about twenty minutes south of you. My company relocated me here in 1996 from Greenwich, CT where I lived for about seven years. In 1999 I was sent to Hong Kong on an assignment and stayed until last year. While it's great to be back in Atlanta, I really miss the excitement of living in Asia. It was the dreaded SARS epidemic that unfortunately chased me back here. We're all looking forward to getting together on the 15th of May. Maybe we can expand the reunion next time and include several classes. Before then, we can expand this Blog to include other classes, just let me have the email addresses of those you would like to invite on and we can get them going here.

Hey Tom - Thanks

Dear Tom,

Thanks so much for the invitation to join the blogger. I understand from Zeida that we are partically neighbors. What a small world !!!! My husband was transsferred here in 1997 and we have been very happy since here in Alpharetta. It is a wonderful community. I have 2 sons David 17 and Bryan 15. They are great and very active boys. I married a great guy Vince almost 21 years ago and I feel very blessed with the way my life has evolved. I stayed at home with my children for 15 years and just recently began teaching Spanish at the local Middle School and I love it. I teach 8th graders and I love them too. I am so happy all of you have reconnected. I know that my sister is really looking forward to seeing everyone in May. I hope that we can also get some 1970 OLA grads to surface and maybe next year add more to the group. Well keep in touch and have a great time in NYC.

vacations

When I was young my parents always enjoyed the catskills in the winter for skiing and summer for the resorts. Swimming & skiing was the major attractions. After my Mom passed vacations passed also. Then when I went to HS I would go to FLorida for spring break and one year for winter break. On my own vacation has usually been to Nags Head in NC or Virginia Beach ever since I been in VA which I came here in 1986. Now, I am married and we have been to Myrtle Beach, SC, Seattle, WA, California. I also was given a gift from the home town my Father was born - U'lm, Germany a 10 day trip to that town in the 80's. I also recall in my youth traveling to most of the states on the east coast down to Washington DC.
Zeida,
Fredricksburg is about an hour away fro me so let me know if she(your niece) wants to come here or meet half way or go there. My cousin lives in the Poconnos in a town called Kunkletown and I have frequently visited with her and her family.
Take care and have a Good Palm Sunday,
Carol

Douglas Sounds Like A Plan

Douglas-
You are going to be in my neck of the woods. I live 45 minutes from Tampa and about a half hour from Clearwater. I go to school on weekends in Orlando at the Celebration campus ( the town that Disney built). It is very picturesque! You will have a wonderful time on your vacation. I hope the weather cooperates. We have had some cool weather for this time of year - mornings in the mid 50's and highs each day only going into the low 70's. That is very cool - unusually so, for this time of year. However, I guess to what you are coming from, the weather will feel actually tropical !

Please give me a call on my home phone at 727-372-4912 or on my cell which is 727-992-8860 and let me know what will work best for you. By the week of the 12th I am back at work unfortunately ( our Easter break is Arpil 5 through 12th), so our get together will either have to be on a Sunday afternoon or one evening. Give me a call and let me know what fits into your family's schedule.

Look forward to seeing you.

Suzette

Vacations are almost always fun.

I never wear long dresses either Zeida. The story about your drowning ("fake") sister was rather sad, and
your Dad should not have punished you. Hopefully he learned thereafter to wear a bathing suit when his children were swimming.

I have not been to Orlando in many years, but will make a point of seeing the sights that you mentioned.
Since we do not have kids, we lose a little of the wonder factor that you vicariously experience with kids.
We will probably join some of our nephews and nieces next time that they go.

I recently enjoyed four days of vacation in Barcelona, Spain with my wife. The Gaudi museum and buildings were quite amazing, especially the "Sagrada Familia" Cathedral. It is an ultra modern structure that is still unfinished. We also saw a Picasso museum, the famous "Guernica" picture is quite moving and went for a genuine Flamenco dancing night. It is a very sophisticated city with excellent restaurants, a beautiful shoreline and the entire city hanging out at the Rambla on weekends.

Tampa, anyone?

Douglas,

I live about a 45 minute drive from Tampa. When are you going to be in town, you don't mention dates. Why are you coming - vacation or business? I would love to get together with you and your boys. Please let me know the particulars of your visit and we wil connect, if you wish.

Suzette

Florida

Doug,

I arrive in Miami, Florida on the night of April 25 in a banking conference (urgh!) on April 26 and 27th staying at the Hotel Inter Continental. It is not close to Tampa, but let me know if you will be around Miami.

My family did not really go on "vacation" Doug so don't complain. I learned about vacations after I graduated from College. We would unceremoniously get dragged to Jones Beach virtually on every weekend, sometimes Saturday and Sunday, until either a) Our skin fell off completely form sun burn; or b) We claimed to have a creative debilitating illness (otherwise our Dad would say "its nothing a little salt water won't cure"); or c) We were failing a course in school in which case we would be grounded, so that we could study on weekends and remedy our deficiency.

I did not write to Carol (I had no need to since I never went on vacation), but I did talk on the phone a lot, provided that my parents did not see me, since I would be hounded if I spent more than five minutes talking to my girlfriend. My Mother would circle around me impatiently, and frown at me, until she finally got fed up, and would signal me to hang up. I should not occupy the phone for extended periods, when someone important could be trying to reach us. A I recall, practically no one ever called us, and if they did, my Father refused to answer the phone.

I think that Zeida should wear a long black dress with a long slit up one leg up to the hip bone. Is your hair going to be blond, or are you going to surprise us?

John

Florida

so.......Anyone going to FLA after Easter?-I'll be in the Tampa area and of course near and around Orlando that week. let me know and maybe we can get together so at least you won't be shocked when you see me on the 15th!!!! Actually I'd like to introduce you to my Boys who you won't get a chance to see in May.

take care, Doug

Speaking of family vacations-

Does anyone have any good vacation stories when we were in OLA-I remember sending letters to Linda from New Hampshire-Lake Winnepesaukie-sp? and worrying that I did not put enough postage on them and they would be returned to my house where my Mother would Kill me!!!!! I had lots of time to write letters as my parents grounded me for running a rented boat into some rocks on the Lake!!!! The boat almost sunk-what a mess!!!!!!
